The Valley Arts Guild and the Mercer County Bicentennial Commission are the beneficiaries of Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grants, said state Sen. Robert D. Robbins, Salem Township, R-50th District.
The arts guild will receive a $1,000 grant applied for by Hermitage and a $900 grant applied for by Sharon. The money will be used for exhibits, concerts, workshops and classes for children, senior citizens and school programs, said Heather Doughty, the council’s deputy director for communication.
The grants are awarded under a program to encourage local government funding of the arts and cooperation between local governments and arts organizations, she said.
The bicentennial commission received a $500 grant for a July 4 concert at Tara in Clark, which will feature a patriotic program, she said.
