Top students named in class of '96

Tara Rubeo has been named the valedictorian for West Middlesex High School class of 1996. She is a daughter of Eugene and Janis Rubeo, 541 Pulaski Road, Shenango Township.

Salutatorian for the class of '96 is Michele Pavlov, daughter of Richard and Carol Pavlov, 13 Lilac Drive, Shenango Township.

Other students to graduate with honors are:

West Middlesex Area School students were honored at an awards ceremony June 3.

  • Tara Rubeo _ West Middlesex PTO Award, $500; Valedictorian Award from Sharon Elks Club, $50; Air Force Math/Science Award; Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award; the Tom Burns Award from the Mercer County Hall of Fame.

  • Michele Pavlov _ U.S. Steel Corp. scholarship, $1,500; Degree of Honor, $1,000; Ottaway Scholarship (The Herald), $600; Richard Wolfinger Educational Memorial Scholarship, $600; West Middlesex Student Council Award, $100; Salutatorian Award from Sharon Elks Club, $50; U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Academic Award.

  • Lindsay Woge _ West Middlesex PTO award, $500; West Middlesex Alumni Award, $250.

  • J. Bradley Campbell _ Westminster College Scholarship, $4,000.

  • Rachel Barkley _ Toccoa Falls College Scholarship, $2,000; Pastors Association Scholarship, $1,000; Strimbu Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Judd Hughes Memorial Athletic Award, $200; Steve Koncar Memorial Athletic Award, $50.

  • Kelly Tomko _ Wolves Club of Farrell, $3,000; American Business Women's Association, $1,000; Lackawannock Civic League, $250.

  • Tiffanie Radford _ Tommy Thompson Scholarship, $500; West Middlesex Alumni Award, $250; Cheerleader Scholarship from the Jill Kimmel Memorial, $100; College Club of Sharon, $75.

  • Nichole Gassner _ Youngstown State University Leadership Award, $1,000.
