Sharpsville Police Depart-
ment, as a public service in
partnership with Pennsylva-
nia Game Commission, of-
fers a hunters’ safety educa-
tion course in July.
This third annual course
will be con-
ducted over
two days, 5
to 9 p.m.
July 19 and
8 a.m. to 4
p.m. July 21.
Both days’ training must be
completed for certification.
The class will be instructed
by a Sharpsville officer along
with a team of trained volun-
teer instructors and wildlife
conservation officers.
Anyone wishing to buy a
hunting license in Pennsylva-
nia who hasn’t held a prior
hunting license or passed an
equivalent course in another
state must complete this
course.
This training is open to
anyone who is at least 11
years old on the first day of
the class. The Sharpsville
Volunteer Firefighters have
generously made their handi-
capped-accessible station on
Main Street available for the
training.
There is no charge for this
training but preregistration is
required. Signups begin in
late May on the Pennsylva-
nia Game Commission web-
site. Feedback from previous
years has been quite posi-
tive.
Sharpsville Police Depart-
ment welcomes interested
persons from all communi-
ties to participate.

Grove Manor Skilled
Nursing Home and Personal
Care Home had a great
2011. We started the year by
being awarded and celebrat-
ing the 2010 Excellence of
Quality Care Award from the
Pennsylvania Department of
Aging and Office of Long
Term Living. Grove Manor
was one of 12 facilities to win
this award out of 631 nursing
facilities in Pennsylvania and
placed Grove Manor in the
top 2 percent of facilities in
the state.
Then-Secretary of Aging
John Michael Hall traveled
to Grove City from Harris-
burg to present this award to
Nancy Iandimarino, adminis-
trator of Grove Manor.
In the spring, Grove
Manor celebrated its 40th an-
niversary of being a part of
the Grove City community.
At the anniversary celebra-
tion, Grove Manor recog-
nized five of the 12 founding
fathers: William Dunlap, Don
Mainhart, Howard Potter,
Lester Thorton and Dean
White. The others were
Arnold Berg, Arthur Eakin,
May Eakin, Mary Gray, Vel-
ma Mainhart and Connie
Shorts. A history display and
celebration was enjoyed by
many friends, residents, fam-
ilies and the Grove City com-
munity.
Grove Manor has a four-
star facility rating in all cate-
gories by the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid.
Grove Manor received great
My InnerView scores with a
100 percent customer satis-
faction. Grove Manor re-
ceived a 97 percent satisfac-
tion score for the customer
satisfication
because of
the compe-
tency of our
staff and for
the respect
and dignity that the staff
shows the residents. A score
of 97 percent said that our
families will refer Grove
Manor to others. My In-
nerView is a program for
customer satisfaction where
the residents and families
can rate our services and
recommend us to others.
Grove Manor also re-
ceived an Employee Satisfac-
tion Award in recognition of
being an employer of choice
and providing a positive
work environment for em-
ployees.
At the annual Extendicare
banquet for over 500 man-
agement employees held in
Harrisburg, the Extendicare
Helping People Live Better
Award was received by
Grove Manor in recognition
of outstanding achievement
in overall health center man-
agement and improving the
lives of those who rely upon
Grove Manor. An Extendi-
care award was received for
the recognition of excellence
in financial management and
for meeting and exceeding
Grove Manor’s budgeted
goals. Extendicare gave an
award for outstanding
achievement in providing
quality care and services to
Grove Manor’s residents.
Grove Manor’s success is
a tribute to our dedication,
commitment and teamwork
that the staff provides to the
residents.
In the fall, Grove Manor
was the proud recipient of
the American Health Care
Association and the National
Center for Assisted Living’s
(AHCA/NCAL)
Bronze
Commitment to Quality, Na-
tional Quality Award in
recognition of the facility’s
strong commitment to con-
tinuous quality improvement
for the reduction of restraints
to achieve a restraint free fa-
cility. A reception was held
for the public in October.
Grove Manor has an ex-
cellent therapy program
which includes physical, oc-
cupational and speech thera-
pies. We do VitalStim thera-
py, balance and fall
prevention therapy and
strengthening/range of mo-
tion therapy as well as many
other therapies.
Grove Manor Personal
Care Home realized a 2011
Deficiency Free Survey and
offers a safe comfortable
community for mature adults
who wish to enjoy life to its
fullest without having to wor-
ry about the upkeep of a
home. Our emphasis is to
provide each resident assis-
tance with their daily rou-
tines such as dressing,
bathing, grooming, dining
and medication assistance as
much as the individual re-
quires. Independence is nev-
er hindered and our personal
care enhances self-esteem
and encourages a fulfilling
lifestyle.
Grove Manor was wired
for Wi-Fi connectivity so our
families and residents may
freely connect to the Internet
in our facility at no cost.
Plans are under way for a
renovation to update the dé-
cor and flow, this will take
place throughout 2012.
