Studio:
Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage
(Includes Take-home Materials)
nered with Hermitage resi-
dent and businessman Jack
Kopen to form Olde Hicko-
ry Financial in January
2000.
“This is something you
live and breathe,’’ he said of
the financial world.
The firm now has five
associates and more
growth is planned in the
upcoming years. So far
each consecutive quarter at
Olde Hickory Financial has
seen higher revenue since
the company’s founding.
Not bad considering the
Great Recession hit a cou-
ple years ago.
Prompted in large part
by the housing bubble,
Wiseman believes it’s going
to take time before the
economy truly rebounds to
pre-recessionary levels.
“It’s going to take years
to repair,’’ he said of the
economy. “Housing foreclo-
sures aren’t going away. It
can take up to two years to
foreclose on a home.’’
Wiseman at times is
whimsical of his New York
upbringing and his journey
to small town life. There
are stark differences be-
tween the two cities and
how they treat those in the
hustle and bustle of trading
stocks.
“We’re all capitalists,’’
Wiseman said of those in
his trade. “The velocity of
New York is not here. But
you don’t have to think so
fast when it comes to mak-
ing a return. It’s good to
slow down and appreciate
what you have.’’
One way he slowed
down was to become a Lit-
tle League coach for four
years. He will watch his
eldest son soon become an
Eagle Scout.
“I don’t think that would
have happened in New
York,’’ Wiseman said.
