Chicken Paprika (Stew Chicken with Sour Cream) 1 onion, chopped
4 tablespoons shortening
1 tablespoon red paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 tablespoons salt
4- to 5-pound chicken, cut up
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 pint sour cream
1. Brown onion in shortening, add seasonings and chicken, brown 10 minutes. Add water, cover and let simmer slowly until tender.
2. Remove chicken. Add sour cream to drippings in pan and mix well. Add favorite dumpling recipe. Arrange chicken on top.
3. Heat through and serve.
4. For more gravy, add 1/2 pint sweet cream to sour cream. Serves 4 to 6 people.
