Apple Crisp

4 cups peeled and sliced cooking apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/3 cup sifted all-purpose flour

1 cup oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted


1. Place apples in a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice.

2. Combine flour, oats, sugar, salt, cinnamon and butter, mixing until crumbly.

3. Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees) about 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

4. Serve warm or cold with cream or ice cream. Makes 6 servings.
