Daniel B. Doolin, 451 Yankee Ridge Road, Mercer, passed away at 5:35 a.m. today (7-24-02) in the Skilled Care Unit of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 91.

Clarence C. McKoy Jr.

76 FHS grad, Valley Baptist member was welder in Ohio

Funeral services will be Saturday (7-27-02) for Clarence C. McKoy Jr., 42 Walters St., Campbell, Ohio, formerly of Farrell. He passed away Sunday evening (7-21-02) at 120 Columbus St., Struthers, Ohio. The Mahoning County Coroner is investigating. He was 44.

Mr. McKoy was born Feb. 12, 1958, in Sharon, to Clarence C. and Alma Price McKoy.

The 1976 Farrell High School graduate went to welding school in Cleveland.

He worked as a welder in Solon, Ohio.

Mr. McKoy was a member of Valley Baptist Church in Farrell and served three years in the U.S. Navy.

He enjoyed growing plants and was very fond of his dog.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Tammy Wedge, Campbell, whom he married in February 1990; his parents, Farrell; two sisters, Clarice I. McKoy, Sharon; and Mrs. McKinley (Connie J.) Smith, South Euclid, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth A. McKoy, Euclid, Ohio; and Darrell McKoy and his wife, Pamela, Farrell; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-law and friends.

Robert A. Adams
Ex-plaza market meat cutter was '74 Hickory High grad

A private memorial service will be held for Robert A. Adams, 82 S. Oakland Ave., Sharon, formerly of Patton Avenue, Farrell. He passed away at 5:50 p.m. Monday (7-22-02) in his residence. He was 46.

He was born Nov. 1, 1955, in Sharon, the son of Kenneth R. and Elizabeth "Betty" Motmiller Adams.

Mr. Adams was an alumnus of Hickory High School, Hermitage, class of 1974.

He worked for more than 20 years at Plaza Meat Market in Hermitage as a meat cutter and later worked in the same capacity in the Oil City area.

He loved the outdoors and especially hunting.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth C. Adams and his wife, Linda, Shenango Township; and one brother-in-law, Norman Phendler, Oil City. He also leaves several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judith Phendler; and one niece, Lindsey Adams.

Patricia L. Johnson
Grove City resident worked at former Talon in Meadville

Patricia L. Johnson of Grove City died Monday, July 22, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 73.

She was born Aug. 18, 1928, in New Kensington, a daughter of Frank and Pearl Hill Whigham.

She married Glenn E. Armour, who preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1978.

She subsequently married Edwin C. Johnson on Oct. 5, 1992. He survives.

She was employed at the former Talon in Meadville from 1972 to 1981. She had previously worked at the Hoagie Ranch Restaurant on U.S. Route 19 South.

She was dedicated to her family, especially her grandchildren. At the age of 17, she survived a catastrophic auto accident and went on to raise her family. She met her many challenges in life with courage and determination.

Survivors in addition to her husband of Grove City include one daughter, Evelyn Fenton and her husband, Lenny, Meadville; one son, Gary E. Armour and his wife, Lois, Meadville; five grandchildren, Damon Armour, Bill Field, Michelle Maslan, Wendy Gunn and Patti Capron; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Medberry and her husband, Stan, Stoneboro; and Fran Heckman and her husband, Edward, of Utica; three brothers, Wilfred Hamilton and his wife, Mary, Saegertown; James Hamilton and his wife, Mary, Grove City; and John Hamilton and his wife, Lynne, Stoneboro; and her husband's children, Carl, Roy, Lee, Mark and Alice.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Brazel, Margaret Ebbert and Alice Hamilton; one brother, Charles Hamilton; and by John Hamilton, who reared her.

Robert Thomas 'Big Bizz' Daniels
Sharpsville man retired

from United Service Co.

A private memorial Mass will be held for Robert Thomas "Big Bizz" Daniels of 317 Canterbury Court, Sharpsville. He passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. Monday (7-22-02) in his residence surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was 76.

Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Sharpsville, he was a son of the late Leslie G. and Mary A. Dufner Daniels.

A graduate of Sharon High School, he was first employed by the former American Laundry in Sharon; and later by United Service Co., where he retired as a driver and salesman in 1987 after 37 years of service.

Mr. Daniels was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; and Teamsters Local 377. He enjoyed being outdoors as well as hunting, fishing and feeding wild animals in his backyard. He was an avid reader of mystery books and listening to music, particularly big band and jazz.

Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, the former Eleanor A. Matthews, whom he married March 9, 1957; two daughters, Janine Daniels at home; and Mrs. David (Holly) Swogger, Sharpsville; three sons, John Mark Daniels and his wife, Connie; and Robert Timothy Daniels, all Sharpsville; and Dennis J. Daniels, Daytona Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mary A. Carroll, San Jose, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Erica, Joshua and Matthew Daniels and Laura and Megan Swogger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Daniels; and one sister, Ellen Daniels.

Hempfield woman was

X-ray technician at local clinic

Helen S. Barney, White-Cliff Nursing Home, 110 Fredonia Road; formerly of 233 Fredonia Road, both Hempfield Township, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday (7-23-02) in the nursing home. She was 76.

Mrs. Barney was born May 17, 1926, in Baltimore to the Rev. K. Walter and Johanna Bobsen Schmitt.

She attended schools in Philadelphia and received training as a radiologic technician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She worked as an X-ray technician at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, later coming to work at Greenville Medical Center as an X-ray technician for 25 years.

After retiring from the clinic, she worked at White-Cliff Nursing Home as a nurse's aide for 10 years.

Mrs. Barney was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville; and a 40-year member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Surviving are: her husband, R. William Barney, Greenville, whom she married Oct. 5, 1951; one daughter, Barbara A. Barnes, Tempe, Ariz.; one son, Robert W. Barney, Greenville; two brothers, Walter Schmitt, King of Prussia, Pa.; and Oscar Schmitt, Lake Ariel, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Donald A. Miller

Former GC policeman was contractor, land developer

A funeral service will be held Friday (7-26-02) for Donald A. Miller, 183 Airport Road, Liberty Township. He died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday (7-23-02) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after an extended illness. He was 54.

Mr. Miller was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Liberty Township to Howard D. Miller and Annabelle Aylesworth Miller.

Mr. Miller was a former member of the Grove City Police Department and was a self-employed contractor and land developer.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

A graduate of Grove City High School Class of 1966, Mr. Miller was a former member of Free and Accepted Masons Cedar Lodge No. 800, Grove City; and New Castle Consistory.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Longwell, whom he married Feb. 22, 1969.

Also surviving are: a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly L. and Ronald E. Hale, Grove City; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian D. and Megan E. Miller, Grove City; an aunt, Martha A. Lyons, Grove City; and two grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Miller and Paidyn Lynn Hale.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elizabeth H. Kurpe

Divine Liturgy will be held Saturday (7-27-02) for Elizabeth H. Kurpe of 279 Case Ave., formerly of Woodrow Court, both in Sharon. She passed away at 1:47 p.m. Monday (7-22-02) in Clepper Convalescent Home Inc. in Sharon following a brief illness. She was 84.

Mrs. Kurpe was born in New Castle on Aug. 31, 1917, the daughter of Vasko and Susanna Kiktavy Hromyak. She was an alumna of Brookfield High School.

She worked for the former Sharon Store in Sharon, retiring from in the 1970s as a department head in ladies apparel.

She was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage.

She was also a member of Strouss Co. retirees association.

She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her husband, Michael Kurpe Jr., whom she married Feb. 9, 1946, passed away Oct. 11, 1978.

She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne E. Kuester and her husband, Thomas M., with whom she lived. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Joyce Kurpe, Sharon; and one sister, Margaret Toscano, Sharpsville. She is survived by four grandchildren, Amy Villegas, Laura Kurpe, and Christine and Michael Kuester; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Skylar Villegas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Michael Kurpe; two brothers, John and Michael Hromyak; and a sister, Ann Bossick.

Forrest 'Woody' Lee Mundis
'73 Wilmington grad worked at Sharon Steel, liked to bowl

Forrest "Woody" Lee Mundis, 4662 New Castle Road, New Wilmington, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (7-23-02) in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after an extended illness. He was 46.

Mr. Mundis was born Sept. 3, 1955, in Meadville to Raymond L. and Naomi Jean Conrad Mundis.

The 1973 graduate of Wilmington High School, New Wilmington, worked at former Farrell plant of Sharon Steel in the lab of the basic oxygen furnace department.

He loved golf, hunting and the out-of-doors. Mr. Mundis was an avid bowler and enjoyed animals. He had five cats.

The Santelli family of Sharpsville and the Borowicz family of New Wilmington have been like family to him.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Lynda Santelli, whom he married Oct. 2, 1982; one sister, Rae Jean Isaly, Meadville; his father, Waynesboro, Pa.; and one niece, Billie Jean Fabian.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
