Benny E. Boggs Retiree worked for Mercer schools, National Castings Benny E. Boggs, 1101 S. Lake Road, Jefferson Township, died at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 66. Mr. Boggs was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Clay, W.Va., to Russell G. Boggs and Orva M. Greathouse Boggs. He graduated in 1956 from Clay High School and worked for the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon as a pipe fitter for 27 years. He retired from there in 1983 and also worked for Mercer Area School District for 17 years as a maintenance supervisor, retiring from the district in 2000. He was of the Baptist faith and served during peacetime in the Army. He was a member of the Jackson Center Sportsman's Club and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, the former Sally H. Crosthwaite, at home, whom he married Oct. 10, 1959; a daughter, Debra L. Boggs, Pulaski; a son, Larry A. Boggs and his wife Amanda, Fredonia; three sisters, Patricia A. Meglich, Doylestown, Ohio; Linda L. Cunningham, Duck, W.Va.; and Allie C. Eagle and her husband, William, Mercer; two brothers, Danny G. Boggs and his wife, Lucy, Jackson Center; and Larry R. Boggs and his wife Evelyn, Stoneboro; and three grandchildren, Dalton, Peyton and Gavin Boggs. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Lori and Linda Boggs; and two sons, Russell and James Boggs.

Esther J. Jorewicz Formerly of Hermitage, retiree had son living here TAVARES, Fla. -- Esther J. Jorewicz of 44 Heron Drive, Tavares, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002. She was 81. Born in Hammond, Ind., in 1921, Mrs. Jorewicz moved to Tavares from Hermitage in 1978. She retired from J.C. Penney's as a sales associate. Mrs. Jorewicz was an active member of St. Mary's of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis, Fla. Esther was a Eucharistic minister and was involved in the ministry of the sick. She is survived by: her son, Peter J. Jorewicz, Hermitage; her daughters, Mary Jo Jorewicz, Tacoma, Wash.; and Carol Ann Schultz, Strongsville, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Sister Mary Louise Jorewicz of the Daughters of Charity, Evansville, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society. Calling hours were 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (10-30-02) in Eustis, with a Rosary service held at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass was held at 9 a.m. Thursday (10-31-02) in St. Mary's of the Lakes Catholic Church with the Rev. Manuel Fernandez, pastor, as celebrant.Arthur Shirwood Gregory Mason of Jefferson Twp. was Masury plant retiree Arthur Shirwood Gregory, 164 N. Hassel Road, Jefferson Township, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness. He was 71. Mr. Gregory was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Franklin to Harry Shirley Gregory and Viola M. Latshaw Gregory. He attended Franklin High School and worked for Western Reserve Metals of Masury in its shipping and receiving department for 23 years. He retired in 1995. Mr. Gregory attended Charleston United Methodist Church in Hermitage and was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Hebron Lodge 575 in Mercer. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his family and friends, as well as fishing, racing, cutting wood and classic cars. Surviving are: his wife, the former Joan L. Brown, at home, whom he married April 26, 1957; two daughters, Diane Lawson and her husband James, Oil City; and Debra Alden and her husband Dennis, Franklin; six sons, Mike Gregory and his wife Cindy, Sharpsville; Russell Gregory, Cochranton; Randy Anderson and his wife Jennifer, Slippery Rock; Arnold L. Gregory and his wife Jamie, Hermitage; Steven Gregory and his wife Sheryl, Mercer; and Wayne Gregory, Sharpsville; and four sisters, Margaret McDonald, Georgie Walburn, Nancy Alcorn and Jane McCartney, all Franklin. Mr. Gregory also leaves 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three half sisters, Dorothy, Christina and Beverly; and three half brothers, John, Richard and Kenny. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Viola Hays; one son, Robert L. Gregory; one sister, Pauline Pennington; and one brother, Clifford Gregory.
GREGORY Gladys I. Owens Homemaker was officer in Greenville GOP chapter A funeral service will be held Saturday for Gladys I. Owens, 330 Coal Hill Road, West Salem Township. She died at 7:03 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in her residence. She was 85. Mrs. Owens was born April 27, 1917, in Greenville to Charles M. Wilcox and Alta P. Peterson Wilcox. She attended the former Penn High School in Greenville. A homemaker, Mrs. Owens was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville. She also belonged to the Republican party, where she served as a past president of the Greenville chapter. Mrs. Owens enjoyed flowers, gardening and spending time with her family. Her husband Glen W. Owens, whom she married Jan. 21, 1935, survives at home. Also surviving are: four daughters, Mrs. Robert "Mort" (Jo Ann) Cooper and Mrs. Thomas "Tim" (Glenda) Saylor, both Greenville; Mrs. James (Donna) McCall, Camp Hill, Pa.; and Mrs. Roger (Marsha) Custer, also Greenville; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Owens; a grandson, Todd Saylor; four brothers, Leroy Mearl, Raymond and Robert Kenneth Wilcox; and one sister, Iala Wilcox. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 73 Clinton St., Greenville 16125.
