Ruth I. Stillwagon Rodgers
Homemaker was Avon rep, retired from GC hospital

At 8:22 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, the Lord God called home Ruth I. Stillwagon Rodgers, a resident for five years of Orchard Manor, Pine Township. She was 81.

Mrs. Rodgers was born May 13, 1921, in Harrisville to William Stillwagon and Elsie L. Hummel Stillwagon.

On Aug. 2, 1939, she married her husband, John L. Rodgers. Ruth had been a beautician for many years before devoting her time to her children. She took a job in the Central Supply Department at the former Bashline Hospital in Grove City. She retired from there in 1979 after nine years of employment.

A homemaker, Mrs. Rodgers was a wonderful cook. She made beautiful afghans and loved to sew.

She also loved to travel, play 500 Bid and make ceramics.

Mrs. Rodgers was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City; and was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 519, Grove City; Pine Township Republican Women; and Mercer County Hairdressers Association.

She was a former Avon representative for many years.

She was known as "Frosty" on citizens band radio.

Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years; two daughters, Elaine K. Lehman, wife of David, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Vivian R. Hartle, wife of Edward, Grove City; two sons, Marvin L. Rodgers and his wife Shirley, Grove City; and Rodney K. Rodgers and his wife Ruth, Harrisville; 10 grandchildren, Curtis Rodgers and his wife CeCe; Kelly Rodgers; Patrick Rodgers and his wife Shannon; Amanda Rodgers; Ginger Lehman Kilpatrick and her husband Brian; Lauren Lehman and Catherine Lehman; and Stephanie, Shannon and Eric Hartle; and three great-grandsons, Justice and Mason Rodgers; and Shane Rodgers.

She also leaves: three sisters, Shirley J. Agostino and Patricia Flynn, both Harrisville; and Delores Lucas, wife of William "Bill," Grove City; and two brothers, Robert Stillwagon and his wife Lois, Grove City; and James Stillwagon and his wife Delores, Harrisville.

Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John "Johnny" L. Rodgers Jr., who died in 1952; three brothers, Harold Rodgers; and infants William and Rodney Stillwagon; and one sister, Irene Kerr.

Former Sharpsville woman retired from Westinghouse

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Evelyn Cartwright Lewis of Boston Commons, 1146 N. Main St., South Boston, formerly of Sharpsville, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in her residence in South Boston. She was 92.

Mrs. Lewis was born July 5, 1910, in Sharpsville to Harry A. Cartwright and Lola Ann Johnson Cartwright.

A graduate of Sharpsville High School, she retired as a secretary for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of First Baptist Church of South Boston.

Her husband, Walter E. Lewis, died Dec. 30, 1984. Surviving are: a sister-in-law, Mary Cartwright, Surprise, Ariz.; one nephew, John H. and his wife Donna Peeling, New Canaan, Conn.; one niece, Lola Amcher, Greer, S.C.; two greatnephews, one great-niece; and three great-great-nieces and - nephews.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents; a twin sister, Ruth C. Peeling; and two brothers, Mervin and Harry Cartwright. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of South Boston, 815 N. Main St., South Boston, VA 24592.

     LEWIS

     Mrs. Walter E. (Evelyn Cartwright), 92, of 1146 N. Main St., South Boston, Va., formerly of Sharpsville. Service: Memorial service will be held at a later date.

     Interment: With graveside service at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
