Helen C. Barthlomew Brookfield homemaker enjoyed outdoors, work Helen C. Bartholomew of 591 Obermiyer Road, Brookfield, died at 3 p.m. Friday (1-3-03) in her residence. She was 81. Mrs. Bartholomew was born May 6, 1921, in Masury, a daughter of Andrew and Mary Ondic Chaky. Mrs. Barthlomew was a homemaker and took pleasure in hard work and the outdoors. Her first husband, John Gartner, whom she married in 1943, died in 1967. Her second husband, Michael Bartholomew, whom she married on Sept. 4, 1970, died in 2001. Survivors include: one daughter, Cindy Bunts, Youngstown; three stepsons, Michael A. Bartholomew, Sharon; Robert C. Bartholomew, Lowellville, Ohio; and Ronald Bartholomew, Bristolville, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Pullanno, Providence, R.I.; two grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Beside her first and second husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Gartner Jr.; and three sisters, Elsi Chaky, Anna Boor sand Irene Chaky.
BARTHOLOMEW Steve Rozich Masury man was past president of GATX union Steve Rozich of 1103 Broadway Ave., Masury, died at 12:40 a.m. Friday (1-3-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 94. Mr. Rozich was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Youngstown, a son of Blaz and Katherine Kovacic Rozich. Mr. Rozich retired in 1971 from General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant, where he was a roll operator for 43 years. His memberships included the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 126 in Farrell. He was also a past president of the union at GATX. He enjoyed gardening and reading. His wife, the former Agnes J. Dolosky, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1932, died on March 14, 2002. They were married for 75 years. Survivors include: one daughter, Jean R. Baron, Baton Rouge, La.; two grandchildren, Kristin B. Dufrene and Michael S. Baron; and one great-grandchild, Ryan J. Dufrene. Also surviving are close personal friends and caregivers, Joe and Angela Virostick; and Paula Turnbull. Besides his wife, Mr. Rozich was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William S. Rozich; two brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Irene T. Gasiewicz Homemaker was volunteer for church, school, hospital Irene T. Gasiewicz of Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive in Hermitage, formerly of Huron, Ohio, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday (1-3-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 88. Mrs. Gasiewicz was born July 14, 1914, in Scranton, Pa., a daughter of Stanley Kosniewski and Martha Murawski Kosniewski. A homemaker, she was a member of Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage. Previously Mrs. Gasiewicz was an active member of St. Peter's Church in Huron, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and belonged to the church bridge club. She gave much of her time to her former parish, St. Peter's Church, and volunteered for 25 years in the Providence Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. She also volunteered in the cafeteria of St. Peter's School. Mrs. Gasiewicz was a member of the Whispering Oaks Residents Association and had been a member and past president of the Huron Garden Club. Her husband, Edward C. Gasiewicz, whom she married in September of 1939, passed away in January of 1976. She leaves: a son, Philip W. Gasiewicz and his wife, Beth, Grove City; one granddaughter, Rebecca E. Gasiewicz, Grove City; and a grandson, Robert W. Gasiewicz, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Gasiewicz also leaves five sisters, Dorothy Gasiewicz, Esther Laskowski, Clara Gramza, Sally Gromek and Theresa Szuflita and her husband Walter, all of Buffalo, N.Y. Besides her husband, a son, Paul L. Gasiewicz, preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice.

WEBSTER Catherine J. Pavlov New Bedford woman was wife, mother, gardener NEW CASTLE -- Catherine J. Pavlov of New Bedford-Sharon Road, New Bedford, passed away Friday evening (1-3-03) in the hospital of Jameson Health System. She was 88. Mrs. Pavlov was born Sept. 17, 1914, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Katherine Dolak Martinko. She was a member of St. James Church, New Bedford, and its Christian Wives and Mothers Club. Mrs. Pavlov enjoyed gardening and was a wife and a loving, caring mother for all of her life. Her husband, Stephen C. Pavlov Jr., whom she married on Oct. 18, 1938, passed away on Feb. 28, 1964. She leaves: her daughter, Lucy, wife of Fred Johns, Boardman, Ohio; four sons, John S. Pavlov and his wife Eva, Austintown, Ohio; Tom Pavlov and his wife Ada; and Edward Pavlov and his wife Helene, all New Bedford; and Richard Pavlov and his wife Carol, West Middlesex; two sisters, Ann Pope, New Bedford; and Dr. Agnes Martinko, Liberty Township, Trumbull County; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Pavlov was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Martin Martinko; a sister, Mary Kanetsky; a son, Stephen C. Pavlov III; and a grandson, John S. Pavlov Jr.
PAVLOV Ralph L. Boylan Greenville native belonged to Masons in Sandy Lake EUCLID, Ohio -- Ralph L. Boylan, Highland Heights, Ohio, formerly of Greenville and Hadley, died at 1:26 a.m. Friday (1-3-03) in Euclid General Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Boylan was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Greenville and reared in Hadley, where he graduated from Hadley High School's class of 1939. In Hadley, he lived with his parents, who owned Boylan Gardens, a nursery farm. He began his marriage in Hadley, moved to Greenville, and later, in 1950, to Cleveland. He was a tool and diemaker for General Motors Corp.'s Euclid (Ohio) Fisher Body plant. In 1945, he served as a civilian in the Navy Yard in Pearl Harbor, and was called home due to his father's injury, at which time he was needed to operate the family business. Ralph was a 60-year member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 434, Sandy Lake; and Scottish Rite's Valley of Cleveland. He also belonged to Mayfield United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and a passionate gardener who loved to cross-pollinate flowers, forming new varieties. Ralph also loved to share the bounty of his garden with neighbors and friends. He was devoted to his family, particularly his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of the former Betty Eileen Marsteller, whom he married on May 29, 1945, who survives at home; loving father of Cheryl Ann Ucchino, Bainbridge, Ohio; and Gail Eileen DeWolf and her husband Bill, Mayfield Heights, Ohio; cherished grandfather of David and his wife Hilarie; and Dawn DeWolf; dear great-grandfather of Hannah and Ryan DeWolf; uncle of many; and brother of Rosemary Riley, Greenville area; and the late Ruth Rust and Dorothy Hoover; and son of the late John and Elizabeth Boylan of Pennsylvania. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and in-laws in the Mercer County area. Besides his parents and sisters, Ralph was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael, husband of Cheryl Ucchino.
