Inmate accused of assaulting prison nurse

A registered nurse at the State Regional Correctional Facility, Findley Township, said she was assaulted by an inmate at the facility in May.

The 53-year-old Mercer woman was treating the male inmate May 5 when he allegedly grabbed the woman and pulled her downward.

The woman, who reported the assault May 31, said her back was injured during the assault.

A correctional facility representative would not comment on the allegation and said state police were handling the situation.

Police identified the inmate and said an investigation is under way. No one has been charged.
