Heart Assn. honors Mondok

The American Heart Association honored Dave Mondok as 1999-2000 Volunteer of the Year on Wednesday when the Mercer County division held its annual dinner in Oak Tree Country Club, Shenango Township.

Mondok has been active in the organization for four years and has worked on every event during the year. These include HeartWalk, Winter Days Bouquets and Hearts and Spirits Wine Taste Event.

Dr. Lynn Smaha, president of the American Heart Association, was featured guest speaker. Chester B. Scholl Jr. was elected vice president for the 2000-2001 term.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Mercer County. Funds raised by American Heart Association are used for cardiovascular research, educational and community programs.
