A Farrell woman already facing one charge of endangering the welfare of children was arrested on the same charge at 5:30 a.m. today at Idaho Street and Wallis Avenue, Farrell, police said.

Kamala D. Davis, 36, of 1011 Roemer Blvd., left her children without supervision for 12 hours, said Southwest Mercer County Regional police. Information on how many children she has and their ages was not available.

Shirley Davis of 523 Fruit Ave., Farrell, told police that Kamala Davis, who is not related to her, stopped by to visit at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Kamala Davis said she was going somewhere with a man and would be back shortly, police said.

Shirley Davis didn’t want Kamala Davis to go, and Kamala Davis never returned, police said.

Shirley Davis went looking for Kamala Davis at midnight and found her hiding in a van at Darr Avenue and Union Street, Farrell, police said.

Kamala Davis got into Shirley Davis’ car, but got out at Federal and Lee, saying she had to see someone and would be back in a minute, police said. Shirley Davis had to go into a house to get her, police said.

Kamala Davis wanted to stop again at Idaho Street and left Shirley Davis. She was last seen in a four-door vehicle, police said.

By 5:17 a.m. today, Kamala Davis had not been home to her children, police said.

A charge of endangering welfare of children was held for court against her June 28 by District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage. That case stems from June 9, when Ms. Davis left her month-old daughter, Nautica, with Clarice Somerville of 133 Spearman Ave., Farrell, police said.

Ms. Davis asked Ms. Somerville to baby-sit at 3 p.m. June 8, saying she would be back soon, police said. She left Ms. Somerville with one bottle and two or three diapers, police said. Nautica was wearing a dirty T-shirt, a wet diaper and smelled of spoiled milk, police said.

Ms. Somerville called Ms. Davis at 4 and 6 p.m. to tell Ms. Davis the baby was crying a lot, and Ms. Davis said she would be back by 7 p.m., police said.

Between 7 and 8 p.m., when the bottle and diapers were used up, Ms. Somerville could not reach Ms. Davis by telephone or pager, police said.

At 9 a.m. June 9, Ms. Davis called and said she was on her way, but never showed up, police said. The baby had only water between 2 a.m. June 8 and 7:52 p.m. June 9, police said.

Ms. Davis was in Shenango Valley Regional Lock-Up, Farrell, this morning awaiting arraignment, police said. Her children have been placed in foster care.
