CRAWFORD COUNTY

3 killed in two-car collision

Two women and one man were killed when two cars collided at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday in South Shenango Township, Crawford County, police said.

Bertelle Gwin, 70, and her passenger Elaine Marie Withrow-Reinhard, 48, both of New Castle, were traveling north on East Lake Road when Ms. Gwin failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection of Westford Road, police said.

Colman J. Seman, 72, of Westford, was driving west on Westford Road, which doesn’t have a stop sign, and hit Ms. Gwin’s car, knocking both cars off the road.

Ms. Gwin and Ms. Withrow-Reinhard were pronounced dead at the scene at 11:30 a.m., police said.

Seman was flown to Hamot Medical Center, Erie, where he died at 3 p.m. during surgery.
