SHARON

It’s time to Twist again with Joe Dee and Starliters

Joe Dee and Starliters, who jumped on the dance craze bandwagon in the early ‘60s with songs like "Peppermint Twist" and "Hey, Let’s Twist," headline the Sharon Firefighters’ 11th annual oldies show at 7 p.m. July 15 at Sharon High School.

The band was the house band for the Peppermint Lounge in New York City, which inspired the song Dee wrote with Henry Glover, one of early rock’s moving forces. The band also hit the charts with "Shout," "Baby, You’re Driving Me Crazy" and "Hot Pastrami and Mashed Potatoes."

Dee had solo hits with "What Kind of Love is This" and "I Lost My Baby."

Dee, 60, was born Joe DiNicola in Passaic, N.J.

Comedian Buzz Nutley will open the show.

Proceeds will go to local charities.

Tickets: at the fire department. Information: 983-3213.
