MERCER

Man nabbed at grange fair charged with stalking DJ

The Associated Press

A radio disc jockey in Meadville said a man charged with stalking her would call her at work, show up at her studio and once brought an engagement ring to her.

The man, D.J. Philbrick, 31, of Meadville, was held for trial Friday on stalking and harassment charges.

The disc jockey, Theresa Vickery, works for WMDE-FM of Meadville. She said she met Philbrick during an out-of-studio broadcast in December 1998.

She said he sent her flowers and dropped by to visit her, but she was never interested in him. At her request, two friends of hers who work for the Pennsylvania State Police told him to stop bothering her, and he left her alone for a year.

Then she ran into him again in April this year at a gas station near Meadville. She said he started calling her and showing up at her workplace again. She said he brought her an engagement ring at a remote broadcast.

He was arrested on the charges in Mercer County when Vickery was at the Mercer County Grange Fair on July 12.

"I can’t go out to my car by myself," she said. "I’m scared to leave the house."

Vickery said she has lost money because she can’t continue doing remote broadcasts if Philbrick shows up. She said the station also has had to pay someone to do those broadcasts with her.

Philbrick faces up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
