MERCER COUNTY AREA

1 killed, 2 hurt in work accidents

A Clark councilman was killed and his co-worker was seriously injured in an industrial accident Monday in Warrendale, Butler County.

Separately, a Franklin man suffered less-serious injuries in a work-related accident Tuesday in Perry Township.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed this morning that Michael Leonetti, 45 of 2710 Lake Road, was killed while working on the main electrical box at a bulk mailing center.

His co-worker Greg Lengyel, 25, of Wheatland was seriously injured in the accident, OSHA said. He was in serious condition this morning in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Frank Librich, OSHA assistant area director for Pittsburgh, said both men worked for Electric Testing Services Inc., a subcontractor for Bruce and Merilees Electric Co. of New Castle.

Separately, state police said Dana Swab, 29, of Franklin was injured at 324 Carpenters Corners Road, Perry Township, at 1:15 p.m. Monday. Swab was helping to set a modular home on a foundation when one section of the unit slipped from the jack and pinned him. He was flown to UPMC Pittsburgh, where he was in good condition this morning, a hospital spokesman said.
