Route 62 accident details released

Ohio Highway Patrol has released details of a July 16 crash in Brookfield in which a Hermitage man suffered injuries that claimed his life two weeks later.

Ronald J. McCleery, 25, of 410 Rexford Drive, died Sunday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.

Police said he was thrown from a car that overturned in a ditch at about 2:30 a.m. July 16 on U.S. Route 62.

The driver, Susan Gataric, 23, also of 410 Rexford Drive, also was injured, police said. She was discharged from the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System on July 17.

Police said the southbound Gataric car veered to the left, Ms. Gataric overcorrected and the car went off the right side of the road and overturned.

McCleery, who worked at Wheatland Tube, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the wreckage.

Funeral for McCleery will be Thursday morning in Cunningham Funeral Home, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer. The Herald on Tuesday incorrectly said Cunningham Funeral Home in Grove City was handling the arrangements.

Complete funeral arrangements on page A-4.
