Man beaten with ball bat, shot in foot, police say
A Youngstown man was shot and beaten after he got in to an argument with a Fairview Township man, state police said.
Matthew Vincent Novicky, 19, was shot in his left foot and struck several times with a baseball bat around 8 p.m. Friday at his alleged assailant’s Airport Road home, police said. No charges have been filed, police said.
The gunshot wound was minor, police said.
Police said Novicky came to the barracks outside Mercer to report the incident and was taken to United Community Hospital, Pine Township, for treatment. Police and a hospital spokeswoman at UCH said Novicky was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, but a hospital spokeswoman said there was no record of him being treated.
