Lifelong Learning offers classes

Sharon Lifelong Learning Council has planned a schedule of enrichment programs.

A cartooning course is ongoing for five weeks from 2:45 to 4 p.m. Mondays in the art room of West Hill Elementary School, Sharon, for fifth- through 10th-graders.

Students should bring their own brushes for the following adult classes in Sharon High School’s art room 117:

  • Basic tole painting -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26 in Sharon High School’s art room 117. Cost is $30.

  • Halloween craft project -- 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 4. Cost is $25.

  • Thanksgiving craft project -- 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 and 8. Cost is $20.

  • "Pop Can" Pilgrim wreath -- 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 and 26. Students should bring their own glue gun and scissors if available. Cost is $16.

    The following courses will be in Sharon High School’s computer lab, room 222:

  • Microsoft Excel I -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Cost is $20. Students must know how to use a mouse and have knowledge of Windows 95 or 98.

  • Introduction to personal computers -- 6 to 8:30 Oct. 2-5. Cost is $25.

  • Microsoft Excel II -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9-12. Students must have completed Mircosoft Excel I or have knowledge of Excel basics. Cost is $25.

  • Introduction to Windows 95/98 -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16-19. Cost is $25.

  • Microsoft Word I -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30-Nov. 2. Students must know how to use a mouse and have experience with Windows 95 or 98. Cost is $25.

  • Introduction to the Internet -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7. Students must have experience with Windows 95 or 98. Cost is $10.

  • Web page design -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9. Students must know how to use a mouse and have experience with Windows 95 or 98. Cost is $10.

  • Microsoft Word II -- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13-16. Students must know how to use a mouse and have experience with Microsoft Word and Windows 95 or 98. Cost is $25.

  • Microsoft PowerPoint -- 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20-22. Students must know how to use a mouse and have experience with Windows 95 or 98. Cost is $25.

    The following adult education classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in Sharon High room 120:

  • Common sense investing in mutual funds -- Oct. 26.

  • Beginning conversational Spanish -- Mondays, Oct. 2-Nov. 6.

  • American Sign Language, beginner I -- Tuesdays, Oct. 10-Nov. 7.

  • Composting: Building healthy soil -- Oct. 24.

    Beginning guitar I is set for 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 11-Nov. 29 in Sharon High room 120.
