JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP
GC firm to haul garbage
Jefferson Township has accepted a new contract for waste disposal and recycling, as of Oct. 1, with Tri-County Industries, Inc., of Grove City.
Bags may be purchased at a $1.30 a bag, or in packs of 10 for $13, at the following places: D'Onofrio Food Center, Giant Eagle, R-M-M Food Mart, and Shop'n Save, all Hermitage; Jefferson Township Building; Walt's Golden Dawn, Mercer; and Sereday's True Value, West Middlesex.
For $8.15 a month, customers can use an unlimited number of black plastic bags or 30-gallon garbage cans, plus dispose of bulk items throughout the year at no additional cost.
Unlimited cart service can be had at $8.95 a month, for the use of a 95-gallon cart. Materials inside and extra material outside will be disposed of throughout the year, plus the disposal of bulk items at the curb at no extra cost.
Residents may drop off newspaper, cardboard and commingled items, such as clear, green, and brown glass; steel, bi-metal, and aluminum cans; and PET and HDPE plastics -- they must have those initials on the containers -- in containers at the township building.
An annual cleanup to accept bulk items such as furniture, appliances, bedding, and water heaters will be scheduled every spring. The township will notify the residents of the date.
