The Emergency Communication Helping Others team of Jackson Center held an open house in the group's new building Sept. 23.
ECHO members have been very active through the years where their services are needed.
They have organized and conducted safety breaks along Interstate 80 where coffee is made available to travelers. When ECHO held the first break on the westbound side of Interstate 80, 9,000 people signed the guest book, representing 42 states and 15 foreign countries. Members served 6,000 cups of coffee.
The ECHO people have served in many capacities, and have always made themselves available to organizations and individuals who need help. When an airplane crash occurred near the village of Osgood, ECHO was there to help. They have controlled traffic at fairs, notably the Mercer County Grange Fair, and have helped at Halloween parades and other holiday events.
At the open house, which formally opened the new building, Bill Stanley played music and sang.
