JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP

Man dies after ditch collapses on him at home

A Jefferson Township man was killed in a work accident at 11:50 a.m. Thursday at his home, police said.

Bradley Keith Bobby, 34, of 1382 Lake Road, and his brother were digging a drainage ditch in Bobby’s backyard, police said.

Bobby was in the 10-foot-deep ditch and his brother Rod was operating a backhoe when the ditch collapsed on Bobby, police said.

Bobby’s brother was unable to dig him out of the collapsed ditch, police said.

Deputy Mercer County Coroner Cris Loutzenhiserpronounced Bobby dead at the scene and said he died from asphyxiation.

Jefferson-Clark Regional police were assisted at the scene by Jefferson Township and Mercer fire crews, police said.

The brothers owned a Jefferson Township business called Aluminum Docks International, Inc., since 1991.
