Today's obituaries Bradley Bobby Bradley Bobby, 1382 Lake Road, Jefferson Township, died Thursday (10-26-00) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, from injuries sustained in an accident at home. He was 34. Obituary information was incomplete.
BOBBY Rose Fier Fani Uniontown resident had family in Shenango Valley UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Rose Fier Fani, Uniontown, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday (10-21-00) in LaFayette Manor, Uniontown. She was 87. Mrs. Fani was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Salerno, Italy, to Michael and Mary Ferrerra Fier. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Uniontown. Her husband, Nello Fani Sr., preceded her in death. Surviving are: three daughters, Mary Jo Shuba, Footedale, Pa.; Patty Neff and Linda Humphrey, both Manassas, Va; three sons, Nello Jr., Austintown, Ohio; Frank, Masury; and Michael, Brookfield; two brothers, Tony Fier, Mercer; and Christy Fier, Sharon; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, a brother, Frank Fier, also preceded her in death. A memorial service was held Tuesday (10-24-00) in Central Christian Church, Uniontown, with the Rev. Robert Grove officiating. Burial was in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
James Rufus Garts Transfer native retired from Wilson Sporting Goods PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. -- James Rufus Garts, Pawley’s Island, died Thursday morning (10-26-00) in Lakes at Litchfield. He was 79. Mr. Garts was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Transfer to Louis and Elizabeth Moses Garts. He retired in 1981 after 31 years from Wilson Sporting Goods, for which he served as vice president of international sales, traveling to many areas of the world. Following retirement, Mr. Garts moved from Chicago to Pawley’s Island. He was a member of Precious Blood of Christ Church, Pawley’s Island. Mr. Garts was a past president of Hospice of Georgetown County (S.C.) Inc. His wife, the former Priscilla Greer, died in March of this year. Surviving are: a son, James R. Jr., Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Kimberly G. Crum, Louisville, Ky.; and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Georgetown County Inc., 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, S.C. 29440; or Employees Assistance Fund, Lakes at Litchfield, 120 Lake at Litchfield Drive, Pawley’s Island, S.C. 29510.
GARTS The Rev. William C. Harper Pastor was founder of Sharon First Assembly of God FALLING WATERS, W.Va. -- The Rev. William C. Harper, Falling Waters RD 1, formerly of 709 Ethel St., Sharon, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday (10-25-00) at home. He was 91. Rev. Harper was born Nov. 11, 1908, in Rutledge, Pa., to Thomas Edmonde and Margaret Hennis Harper. An alumnus of Dupont High School, Wilmington, Del.; and Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo., he was an ordained minister for 67 years in numerous states for the General Council of Assemblies of God. Rev. Harper was a founder of four churches, including First Assembly of God, Sharon, for which he was a 12-year pastor. He was a member of Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, Hagers-town, Md. Surviving are: his wife, the former Naomi J. Hindsley, to whom he was married for 67 years; two daughters, Ruth H. Hemsley, Williamsport, Md.; and Esther Jones, Niles, Ohio; a son, William S. III, Chesapeake, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today (10-27-00) in Hagers-town. A funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday (10-28-00) in Fellowship Assembly of God, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. Arvel J. Barrett, retired pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

HINES Helen Ruth Rapp First Presbyterian member was Scout leader, den mother Helen Ruth Rapp, 656 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday (10-26-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 85. Mrs. Rapp was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Swissvale, Pa., to John and Caroline Reinheimer McMurray. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon; and was previously active as a leader in Girl Scouts of America and as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Mrs. Rapp was a charter member of Sharon Regional Hospital Auxiliary; and of Hermitage Woman’s Club, for which she was an actress in its drama club. Her husband, Harry E. Rapp, whom she married Sept. 18, 1933, died April 29, 1995. Surviving are: a son, John E., Hermitage; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Carolyn R.) Feldmeyer, Blanchester, Ohio; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
RAPP Infant Galen Smithley OKINAWA, Japan -- Galen Smithley, infant son of Lee W. and Glenda Smithley, Okinawa, was stillborn Thursday (10-26-00) in Okinawa. Surviving are: his father, a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps; and his mother; four sisters, Michelle Chapdelain and Marissa Chapdelain; and Leslie and Gloria; and a brother, Lee W. Jr., all at home in Okinawa; his grandparents, Lance "Pete" and Wanda "Becky" Smithley; and his great-grandparents, Carl and Ruth Smithley, all Fredonia. Private family services will be held in Fredonia. Burial will follow in Millbank Cemetery, Fairview Township.
Susan M. Stacconi Czech-born homemaker retired from Golden Dawn Funeral Mass will be Monday for Susan M. Stacconi, 3730 Holly Lane, Hermitage. She died at 2:58 a.m. Thursday (10-26-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89. Mrs. Stacconi was born April 3, 1911, in Czechoslovakia to John and Sue Gruitza Diurba. She immigrated to the United States in 1920 and moved to the Shenango Valley in the 1930s. Mrs. Stacconi retired in 1957 from the meat department of Golden Dawn Foods, Masury. A homemaker, she was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. When she was younger, Mrs. Stacconi enjoyed bowling. Surviving are: her husband, Peter A. Stacconi, whom she married May 3, 1952; a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Marlene S.) Mort, Hubbard; two sisters, Helen Durst, Orwell, Ohio; and Mrs. Edward (Ann) Fester, Asheville, N.C.; two brothers, Paul Diurba, Bazetta Township, Trumbull County; and Joseph Diurba, Nashville; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Diurba; and a sister, Mary Diurba.
STACCONI Donald E. Taylor WARREN, Ohio -- Donald E. Taylor, 1446 Vernon NW, Warren, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon (10-26-00) in Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was 73. Obituary information was incomplete.
