The victim sustained minor injuries to her hip, hand and knee but was not taken to the hospital, police said.
Police said they are looking for the victim’s former neighbor, a 21-year-old woman whose last known address was on Ohio Street in Sharon. They said the woman knocked on the Masury woman’s cellar door and said her car had broken down and asked for money to pay for a tow truck.
The victim recognized the woman, let her in and offered to drive her directly to the towing business and pay the bill, police said.
The woman then grabbed the victim’s purse and ran out of the house to her car parked on Hazelton Street, police said.
The victim followed and stood in the middle of the road and tried to grab the purse out of the car through an open passenger window, police said. The driver swerved her car and hit the victim, police said.
The wanted woman was driving a White 1993 four-door Chevy Corsica and had a blonde female passenger, police said.
A similar getaway car was used when an 80-year-old woman from Wilson Mill Road, near state Route 158 in Wilmington Township, Lawrence County, was assaulted and robbed at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday by a woman who knocked on the door of her home.
The elderly woman let a woman into her home who claimed her car was broken down and needed to use the phone, police said.
The woman then forced the victim into her bedroom and grabbed the elderly woman’s purse from her, and left the home in a white, four-door sedan similar to a Ford Taurus, police said.
The woman was described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 130 pounds, about 20 to 25 years old and having straight, blonde hair. She may have been riding with a man named Corey, police said.
Police said they aren’t sure if the incidents are related.
Anyone with information is asked to call Brookfield police at (330) 448-6960, or state police in Lawrence County at 598-2211.
