LINESVILLE

Man to stand trial for throwing car jack from bridge

The Associated Press

A Crawford County man will stand trial on charges he injured a man by throwing a 40-pound automobile jack off a bridge over Interstate 79.

Brent S. Oskin, 20, of Linesville waived his right on Thursday to a preliminary hearing on 11 charges, including aggravated assault.

State police say Oskin has confessed to stealing the jack off a porch on March 5 and taking it to an overpass where he tossed it onto the highway.

John N. Bierman, 69, of Saegerstown suffered facial cuts when the jack hit his car, causing $1,955 damage to the vehicle, police said. Bierman's wife and daughter, who were also in the car, were not hurt.

Oskin, who remains free on bond awaiting trial could not be located for comment. Police did not explain his motive and it was not clear why the jack was on the porch.
