Local high school singers tapped for district chorus

NEW WILMINGTON -- The 34th annual Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District V Honors Chorus will perform at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Orr Auditorium of Westminster College, New Wilmington.

Nearly 400 students from Mercer, Lawrence, Butler and Beaver counties auditioned for 80 positions.

The following students will perform:

  • Greenville High School -- tenor Steve Carr, bass Matthew Huffman and altos Katie Meyer and Joanna Taylor.

  • Grove City High School -- bass Tony Shoop.

  • Hickory High School -- alto Kristy Bellich.

  • Mercer High School -- basses Philip Watson and Brian Songer, tenor Kyle Daley, alto Adrienne Grundy and soprano Jessica Moore.

  • Sharon High School -- tenor Sean Genis, bass Daniel Byerly and sopranos Noel King and Brittney Lee.

  • Sharpsville High School -- bass Colin Ward.

  • West Middlesex High School -- tenor Ryan Jones and soprano Kate Creveling.

  • Wilmington Area High School -- tenor Seth Gruber, basses Clayton Gruber, Daniel Neikirk and Justin Bryan and soprano Lindsey Warrer.

    The choir will be directed by John Drotleff of Hiram (Ohio) College and accompanied by Paula Kubik of West Middlesex.
