SOUTH PYMATUNING TOWNSHIP
Taxes remain unchanged in 2001 budget
For the 11th consecutive year, taxes in South Pymatuning Township will remain at 14.5 mills, said township Supervisor Chairman Michael Nashtock.
Township supervisors Monday placed the preliminary $793,241 2001 budget on display for 30 days at the township building on Tamarack Drive.
A mill is $1 for every $1,000 of assessed property value; assessments are one-third of a property’s 1970 market value.
At 14.5 mills, a property owner with a home assessed at $10,000 would owe $145 in property taxes to the township. Each mill brings in $8,000 for the township, Nashtock said.
Of the 14.5 mills, 1.5 mills will go toward the volunteer fire department, Nashtock said.
Supervisors expect to approve the final budget at the last regular meeting of the year, which will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.
