Hermitage Commissioner William Scanlon, who has been on the board for more than three decades, figures to be elected president when the board reorganizes Jan. 2.
Commissioners discussed the five-person board's upcoming reorganization at a board meeting Wednesday. Scanlon was the only commissioner who volunteered to head up the board.
Commissioner Joseph Aug-ustine is the current president. Augustine said he has enjoyed being president for four of the last five years, but did not mind stepping down next year for the longest-sitting commissioner.
Three commissioners said they are interested in being the board's vice president.
"I would like to be vice president of the board," said Commissioner Pat White.
"So would I," said Commissioner Larry Gurrera.
"Lets make it interesting. So would I," added Commissioner Sylvia Stull.
Mrs. Stull said she deserved the board's second-highest post. During her 22 years on the board, Mrs. Stull said she has outlasted "some discrimination against women" and "politics."
"I've been Bill's (Scanlon) vice president before, and he's an excellent president to work with," Mrs. Stull added.
Deferring to Mrs. Stull, White pulled his hat from the ring.
Commissioners also will approve next year's meeting schedule when they reorganize at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 1483 N. Hermitage Road.
