Today's obituaries John W. Bailey John W. Bailey, 580 12th St., Reynolds, died at 9:47 a.m. Monday (12-25-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 49. Obituary information remains incomplete.
BAILEY John A. Beyth Masury VFW member had brother in Hermitage WARREN, Ohio -- John A. Beyth, 596 Kenmore Ave. SE, Warren, died at 12:42 p.m. Monday (12-25-00) in St. Joseph's Health Center after suffering a heart attack at St. James Church, Warren. He was 85. Mr. Beyth was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Maltby, Pa., to Joseph and Mary Kolodzej Beyth. A member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, he was a carpenter for many years in the Warren area. Mr. Beyth was a member of St. James Church; and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 295, both Warren. An Army veteran, he served during World War II and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8860, Masury. His wife, the former DuWayna E. Lawrence, whom he married Aug. 18, 1953, died Oct. 27, 1991. Surviving are: a stepson, Dean Kimpel, Champion, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy "D'Mae") Pearson, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister, Sophia, Lakewood, Ohio; a brother, Joseph, Hermitage; and 12 grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes; and two brothers, Frank and Andrew. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
BEYTH Lawrence C. Cline Lawrence C. Cline, 338 Greenwood Drive, Hermitage, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday (12-27-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 81. Obituary information was incomplete.
CLINE Katherine Longley Hubbard church member was formerly of Sharon Katherine Longley, Masury, formerly of 500 Harley Way, Sharon, died Wednesday evening (12-27-00) in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, following a lengthy illness. She was 88. Mrs. Longley was born May 27, 1912, in Sharon to Frank and Mary Treml Bayer. She attended Sharon High School and was a clerk for 15 years at what is now Dairy Mart, Masury. Mrs. Longley was a member of Corner House Christian Church, Hubbard. Her husband, Frank E. Longley, whom she married in 1933, died June 20, 1972. Surviving are: four sons, William F., Hubbard; Dan D., Universal City, Texas; J. Patrick, Hartford; and Gary A., Smyrna, Tenn.; two brothers, Joseph Bayer, Hermitage; and Nick Bayer, Clark; four sisters, Mrs. Colin (Eva) Wansor and Mrs. Steve (Helen) Benes, both Sharon; and Mrs. Anthony (Theresa) DeGerolamo and Mrs. Gene (Mary Ann) Bonanni, both Hermitage; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grand-children. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Ruth "Ginger," who died in 1977; and three brothers, Frank, Jack and Anton. Memorial contributions may be made to Corner House Christian Church, 954 Chestnut Ridge Road N.E., Hubbard 44425.
LONGLEY H. Mont Mattocks Sr. Retired Reznor supervisor was WWII vet, active in VFW CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- H. Mont Mattocks Sr., Casa Grande, died at 11:27 a.m. Sunday (12-24-00) in Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. He was 74. Mr. Mattocks was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Jefferson Township to Harlowe F. and Lucy Hinkson Mattocks. Prior to retirement, he was a supervisor for Reznor -- a unit of Thomas & Betts Corp., Mercer. A Navy veteran, Mr. Mattocks served during World War II and was active in veterans affairs as a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He also served as a commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6345, Mercer; Mercer County council; and District 28 of the organization. Surviving are: his wife, the former Guyla Priester, whom he married in 1972, at home; two sons, H. Mont Jr., Grove City; and Martin F., Bellefonte, Pa.; a daughter, Mary "Mimi" Lindeman, Meadville; a stepson, Loddie Naymola, Beaumont, Texas; a stepdaughter, Dr. Gail Demler, Houston; a brother, Francis, Mercer; a sister, Arlene Love, Midlothian, Va.; eight grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
MATTOCKS Virginia Ruth Miller Molaskey Sharon High graduate was St. Joseph member Virginia Ruth Miller Molaskey, Dar Drive, Wilmington Township, Lawrence County, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday (12-27-00) at home following an extended illness. She was 75. Mrs. Molaskey was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Sharon to David Earl and Clara C. "Nancy" Kroell Miller. The alumna of Sharon High School was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. Surviving are: her husband, Donald E. "Gene" Molaskey, whom she married Dec. 17, 1948, at home; a daughter, Dr. Robin Molaskey Herrick, New Wilmington; a son, David Eugene, Mesa, Ariz.; her mother, New Wilmington; and two grandsons.
MOLASKEY Joseph G. Nestich Retired Farrell teacher was volunteer, league bowler Funeral Mass will be Saturday for Joseph G. Nestich, 2002 Shadyside Drive, Hermitage. He died unexpectedly at 9 p.m. Tuesday (12-26-00) in Lancaster (Pa.) General Hospital of heart failure while visiting with family in Lancaster. He was 79. Mr. Nestich was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Youngstown to Martin and Helen Rusnov Nestich. The 1940 alumnus of Chaney High School in Youngstown participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montana following graduation. Mr. Nestich later attended Youngstown State University and earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1948 from Kent (Ohio) State University, from which he received a master's in education in 1951. In his earlier years, he worked for the National Reclamation Irrigation Canal. Mr. Nestich moved to the Shenango Valley in 1949 and retired in 1983 from Farrell Area High School, where he was an industrial arts teacher since 1949. He was employed by Hartford High School from 1948 until 1949, and also worked part time for the former Carnegie Steel Co., Farrell; and Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. An Air Force veteran, Mr. Nestich served as a sergeant and logistics officer with the Fifth Air Force in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, for which he served as a lector; and was a former active member and lector at St. Ann's Church, Farrell. As a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell, Mr. Nestich assisted in funeral details. He also belonged to Retired Teachers Association of Mercer County; and Pennsylvania State Education Association. Mr. Nestich was a volunteer for Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care Program, Hermitage; and the Meals-on-Wheels program at Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to leagues at Sunset and Hickory bowling lanes, Farrell and Hermitage, respectively. His first wife, the former Mary J. Brown, whom he married June 9, 1951, died Jan. 30, 1962. His second wife, the former Elizabeth A. Kopscak, whom he married Feb. 27, 1965, died June 28, 1997. Surviving are: four daughters, Martha M. Novelly, Rockville, Md.; Mrs. Mark (Susan A.) Williamson, Sharon; Mrs. Michael (Mary B.) Schreiner, Lititz, Pa.; and Mrs. Michael (Nancy E.) Griffin, Potsdam, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Donna L. Piroga, Marlton, N.J.; four sisters, Mary Coller, Boardman, Ohio; Agnes Siragusa and Theresa Campbell, both Youngstown; and Barbara Walzer, New Castle; two brothers, Michael, Youngstown; and Martin, Phoenix; and five grandchildren. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Birskovich; and three brothers, Paul, Thomas and Stephen.
NESTICH Genevieve K. Rosa Sharpsville homemaker grew up in Ellwood City Funeral will be Friday for Genevieve K. Rosa, 1725 Ridge Ave., Sharpsville. She died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday (12-27-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 71. Mrs. Rosa was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Ellwood City to Salvatore Sainato and Mary Rose Bonvetti. She attended Ellwood City schools and the district's Lincoln High School. A homemaker, Mrs. Rosa was a former member of St. Bartholomew's Church, Sharpsville. She enjoyed cooking. Surviving are: her husband, Samuel J. Rosa, whom she married Feb. 7, 1948; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Joyce K.) Meiss, Hermitage; three sons, Samuel A., Transfer; Bruce S., Sharpsville; and Thomas G., Saugus, Mass.; a sister, Nellie Conti, Ellwood City; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Sainato; and two sisters, Catherine Vadala and Viola Penny.
ROSA Sam Donald Sirko '54 Brookfield graduate lived in Hubbard, worked at LTV Funeral will be Saturday for Sam Donald Sirko, 995 W. Liberty St., Hubbard. He died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday (12-27-00) at home following a brief illness. He was 64. Mr. Sirko was born June 4, 1936, in Warren, Ohio, to Alex and Anna Maliga Sirko. A 1954 alumnus of Brookfield High School, he was employed for 25 years by LTV Steel, Campbell, Ohio, where he was a millwright. Mr. Sirko was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hubbard congregation. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening. Surviving are: his wife, the former Texas Marilyn Dulaney, whom he married March 8, 1958, at home; three daughters, Annette Richards and Donna Kaminski, both Hubbard; and Theresa McKenzie, Girard, Ohio; two brothers, George, Brookfield; and John, Warren; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
