Two men charged with being part of an alleged cocaine distribution ring waived their preliminary hearings Friday and the charges against them were held to court.
Richard W. Radaker, 49, of Rimersburg, Pa., and Eric J. Powell, 27, of Saegertown, were released on $25,000 bail after waiving their hearings before District Justice Ruth M. French, Mercer.
The state Attorney General’s Office charged both men with possession with intent to deliver cocaine and conspiracy. The charges will be heard in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Findings by a statewide Investigative Grand Jury said Radaker delivered a kilo of cocaine to New Bethlehem, Clarion County, on behalf of Vernon Scott of Sharon.
Scott has been charged as the alleged ring leader of an operation the attorney general’s office said distributed $4 million worth of cocaine in the region. Scott is still at large.
Powell regularly sold an ounce or two of cocaine in Saegertown to a witness, according to the grand jury’s findings. Powell told the witness that the cocaine came from Scott, the findings said.
Radaker and Powell were the last of seven men who have been arrested as part of the ring to have their cases held to court.
They included Richard K. McConnell, owner of the Queen of Hearts dance club in West Salem Township.
