UCF earnings jump 24 percent in quarter
United Community Financial Corp. reported its earnings jumped 24 percent in the fourth quarter.
The Youngstown holding company earned $2.5 million, or 8 cents a diluted share, in the quarter compared to $1.9 million, or 5 cents a diluted share, a year earlier.
For the year United’s earnings rose 10 percent with the company earning $11.6 million, or 35 cents a diluted share, in 2000 compared to $10.4 million, or 30 cents a share, in 1999.
United owns The Home Savings and Loan Co. and Butler Wick Corp. which has an office in Sharon.
