BROOKFIELD

Alleged bigamist to appear for county trial date

A Brookfield man accused of bigamy waived his arraignment Tuesday before Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael J. Wherry.

Todd Jablon, 39, Lot 41, Wyngate Manor Mobile Home Park, was charged Jan. 9 with bigamy, perjury and false swearing after the clerk of courts received a letter from one of his wives complaining about him.

He was arraigned before District Justice Ruth M. French, Mercer, in January, and is free on $5,000 bond.

Jablon, who did not appear in court Tuesday, is to report May 8 for a trial date, a spokeswoman in the Mercer County District Attorney’s office said.

According to court documents, Jablon married five women between 1986 and 2000, but divorced only one of them.

In April 1986, while living in Sharpsville, he married Penny A. Newman, Salem, Ohio, according to Columbiana County court records. There is no record of their divorce in Mercer or Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania or Trumbull, Mahoning or Columbiana counties in Ohio.

In June 1990, Jablon married Cindy Sipe in New Castle. According to court records, that marriage ended in divorce Dec. 14, 1992.

Jablon then married Patricia Ann O’Neal of Mercer on May 18, 1993, in Trumbull County Eastern District Court, Brookfield, according to court records.

On June 28, 1996, he married Lillian Paul Busco of Greenville in New Castle. Ms. Busco wrote the letter that led to charges against Jablon.

Jablon’s latest marriage was to Beverly Perry of Brookfield on Feb. 2, 2000, before Wherry in the Mercer County Courthouse.
