Today's obituaries Andrew Wagner Retired mail carrier was Army veteran Andrew Wagner, 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 1:29 p.m. Monday (3-12-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 85. Mr. Wagner was born July 23, 1915, in Waters, Mich., to Joseph Wagner and Martha Huegel Wagner. The alumnus of Brookfield High School retired in 1979 as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Sharpsville, where he worked since 1959. Mr. Wagner was previously employed by the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. An Army veteran, he served as a private first class in the Medical Corps in Belgium and France during World War II. Mr. Wagner was well-known for his generosity to people. Surviving are: a daughter, Deborah A. Wagner, wife of William Hector, Glasgow, Scotland; two sons, Richard Wagner and his wife Darla, Solon, Ohio; and John A. Wagner, Shrewsbury, England; two sisters, Teresa A. McVay, Greenville; and Eva Sovik, Sharon; a brother, Joseph Wagner, Brookfield; a half brother, Albert Parker, Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, John and Rachel Wagner; Lawrence Hector; and Danielle and Jacob Sanor; and a niece, Judy Hockenberry, West Middlesex. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, John Wagner; a brother, Adam Wagner; a half brother, Edward Parker; and a sister, Martha Routman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Library of Shenango Valley Community Library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon 16146. At the family's request there will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held in Sharon at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township. Eva Moore Sharon homemaker was born in Mississippi Funeral will be Friday for Eva Moore, 340 Sterling Ave., Sharon. She died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday (3-11-01) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System of heart failure. She was 66. Mrs. Moore was born July 17, 1934, in Jackson, Miss., to Robert Beasley and Maggie Lena Davis Beasley. A homemaker, she was a former member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell. Her husband, Sammie Moore, died in October 1996. Surviving are: three daughters, Ruth Pendleton, Chicago; Mrs. Robert N. (Cebenna) Newby, Sharon; and Rebecca Boatwright, Farrell; seven sons, Robert and Roger Pendleton; and Freddie Moore, all Chicago; Darry, Danny and Michael Moore, all Sharon; and Charles Moore, Farrell; a brother, Buddy Beasley, Jackson; 24 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Shirley Pendleton, who died in June 1979; two sisters, Eliza Beasley and Hazel Ruth Jones; and three brothers, Leon, Frank and Albert Beasley.
MOORE George Harold 'Hal' Gibson Youngstown business retiree lived in Vienna, volunteered George Harold "Hal" Gibson, 4469 Smith Stewart Road, Vienna, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday (3-13-01) in his home. He was 87. Mr. Gibson was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Ellwood City to George R. Gibson and Nellie Foreman Gibson. He retired in 1976 after 42 years from General Fireproofing in Youngstown, for which he was a pattern layout man. An Army veteran, Mr. Gibson served in the Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church; and Vienna Senior Citizens; and was a volunteer for the Vienna Food Pantry. Surviving are: his wife, the former Alda R. Hilbig, whom he married Sept. 28, 1946; a son, George R. "Rick" Gibson, Las Vegas; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Beckey) Rosa, Austintown, Ohio; a brother, Robert Gibson, Brookfield; two sisters, Velma "Benny" Gibson and Evelyn Maynard, both Vienna; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilmer and John; and a sister, Dorothy Gibson. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Trumbull County, 219 N. GIBSON Anna Yurkon Holy Trinity Lutheran member retired from WE Anna Yurkon, 419 Reed St., Sharon, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday (3-12-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 96. Miss Yurkon was born Dec. 20, 1904, in Sharon, the daughter of George and Anna Jacobson Yurkon. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage. Miss Yurkon had been employed as a coil winder at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 45 years, retiring in 1970. Surviving are two brothers, John Yurkon, Sharpsville; and George Yurkon, Transfer. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Canady; and Mary and Susan Yurkon.
YURKON Dorothy 'Dolly' Edith Silverman Ex-GC woman was manager in hospital, groups member VICTORVILLE, Calif. -- Dorothy "Dolly" Edith Silverman, Victorville, formerly of Grove City, died Sunday (3-11-01). She was 91. Mrs. Silverman was born in Boston. She was a manager for 20 years of the hostess shop at the former Grove City Hospital. Mrs. Silverman was reared and educated in Boston and was an organist for Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86, Grove City. She also belonged to the Grove City Women's Club; and was a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls, also Grove City. Her husband, Myer "Mickey" A. Silverman, is deceased. Surviving are: a son, Bill Silverman, Houston; a daughter, Carol-Ann Bollinger, Apple Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sully Sherman and Ann Kates; and a grandson, Michael Silverman. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3168 E. State St., Hermitage 16148. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
James A. 'Merps' Vellente Sharon Steel retiree, WWII vet was Farrell graduate Funeral Mass will be Friday for James A. "Merps" Vellente, 1815 Sharon Hogue Road, Masury. He passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (3-10-01) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 79. Mr. Vellente was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Farrell, the son of John and Mary Capson Vellente. He was a 1939 alumnus of Farrell High School and retired in 1982 as a foreman from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, after 43 years of service. During World War II, Mr. Vellente served with the Army for four years. He attended Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. Mr. Vellente belonged to American Legion Post 432, Wheatland. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Donald J. (Pamela) Fanone, Masury; three sisters, Sara Tobias, Cleveland; Dolly Watts, Florida; and Donna Booth, Akron; one brother, John J. Vellente, Farrell; and one granddaughter, Marissa Anne Fanone, Masury. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Louis and Frankie Vellente. Ralph Francis Johnston Obituary was published 3-12-01 Mr. Johnston died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday (3-11-01) in his home. The Herald published an incorrect time of death. Among survivors is a sister, Mrs. Randy (Mimi) Mentrek of Hermitage. The Herald received an incorrect spelling of her first name. Correction The following corrects obituary information printed in today's Allied News, Grove City. Allied News made the errors.

Barr, Englewood, Fla., formerly of Harrisville, who died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday (3-11-01) will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (3-15-01) in Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday (3-16-01) in Harmony Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, with Richard F. Rowe of Petrolia and Fairview Presbyterian churches; and the Rev. Lawrence Semel of Reformation Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Morgantown, W.Va., both sons-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
