Man admits to shooting Farrell man in head in 1999

A 22-year-old admitted to charges that he shot a Farrell man in the head two years ago.

Terrence Arli, whose address was unknown, pleaded guilty Monday before Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael J. Wherry to aggravated assault. Charges of attempted homicide, conspiracy and recklessly endangering another person were dismissed.

Southwest Mercer County Regional police in a probable cause affidavit said Arli shot a .357-caliber revolver into the head of Demetrius Newell on Jan. 22, 1999, in the backyard of 1000 Hamilton Ave., Farrell.

The shooting followed an argument between Arli and Newell in the 900 block of Hamilton, police said. Robert Guy Mainor, who witnessed the argument, went to a Wallis Avenue residence in Sharon to get the revolver and took it to Arli, police said.

The wound was not fatal.

Arli is being held in Mercer County Jail after failing to post $150,000 bond.
