A Hermitage man who led police on a three-hour car and foot chase Monday in Ohio and Pennsylvania faces charges from two police departments.

John T. Reeher II, 102 Todd Ave., was arrested at 9:12 a.m. Monday at 659 Broadway, Farrell, Southwest Mercer County Regional police said.

Reeher was charged by Southwest with possession of drug paraphernalia for having a drug inhalant device in his pants pocket when he was arrested, police said.

He also was held on a Mercer County parole detainer and on a fugitive warrant from Trumbull County Eastern District Court, which was issued Saturday. Brookfield police charged him with receiving stolen property, fleeing police and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The chase began at 6:13 a.m. Monday on U.S. Route 62 when Brookfield police spotted Reeher in a car reported stolen at 5:42 a.m. from the 100 block of Third Avenue in Sharon, police said.

The chase continued into Pennsylvania, through Pulaski and Shenango Township, where Reeher drove into woods along Habarka Road, police said.

Reeher ran from the car after it got a flat tire in the woods, Shenango police said. He traveled more than a mile on foot before police caught him in Farrell.

Reeher was arraigned Monday by District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, on the Southwest charges and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $3,000 bond.

Not all of the Brookfield charges stem from the police chase.

Friday morning, Reeher went to a home in the 500 block of Cleveland Street in Masury and offered to remove garbage from a garage and do some repair work for the resident, police said.

Reeher identified himself as John Rogers, police said.

The resident agreed and wrote Reeher a check for $200, then drove him to a bank to cash it, police said.

Reeher returned at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday asking if he could sleep on the resident’s floor, police said. He awoke at about 11:30 a.m. and asked to use the resident’s car because his vehicle was not working, police said.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, the victim called police and said the car had not been returned.

The car was recovered Monday morning in Sharon during the chase, Brookfield police said.
