FARRELL

Suspect accused of hitting agent

A Farrell man punched a probation agent who was trying to arrest him and was found with a large amount of drugs on him, police said.

Kenneth Rutlin, 31, of 306 Federal St., was arrested at 1:39 p.m. Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Pennsylvania Probation and Parole Agents stopped Rutlin in the 1100 block of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell, to arrest him on a parole detainer, police said.

Rutlin punched agent Eric Skiba in the head when Skiba tried to handcuff him, police said.

Rutlin had 19 packages of crack cocaine, a digital scale and pager and $1,971, police said.

Rutlin was arraigned by District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, and taken to Mercer County Jail on the detainer and $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
