Today's obituaries Callie Lynn Ashiyah McNeal Valedictorian of FHS class was active at local synagogue Callie Lynn Ashiyah McNeal, 1131 Walnut St., Farrell, passed away March 11, 2001, in her home of natural causes. She was 49. Miss McNeal was born in Sharon to Preston Greer and Beulah McNeal. The valedictorian of the class of 1969 at Farrell High School received a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. An active member of Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, Miss McNeal took great pride in teaching religious education to the children of the congregation. A scholar, she enjoyed researching history, particularly African history, culture and religion. Surviving are: her father and mother, both Farrell; a brother, Dial McNeal, in Massachusetts; a niece, Rosalyn C. Dobie, Farrell; and four cousins, Minister Joseph McNeal, Farrell; James McNeal, in Virginia; Yvonne Turner, Sharon; and Shirley McNeal, Detroit. McNEAL Sandi L. Bush-Scott Thiel College grad was active in church, masonic groups Sandi L. Bush-Scott, 85 Fredonia Road, formerly of 4 Woodbine Drive, both Hempfield Township, died at noon Friday (3-23-01) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 57. Mrs. Bush-Scott was born March 13, 1944, in Pittsburgh to William G. and Dorothy Kelley Bush. She was a 1962 graduate of Greenville High School. A 1963 graduate of what is now Robert Morris College, Allegheny County, Mrs. Bush-Scott graduated from Thiel College, Greenville, in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She was collection coordinator for 17 years at the Mercer County Intermediate Punishment Department. Mrs. Bush-Scott was previously employed by Pennsylvania State University's College of Business; she was secretary to the dean for two years. She also had been a claims manager for eight years at Marmon-Keystone, Chicago. Mrs. Bush-Scott was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville. She was active in Order of Amaranth Court 120, Farrell, and was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 63 and Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem Shrine 47, both Greenville. Mrs. Bush-Scott was a mother adviser for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls for five years. She enjoyed traveling, camping and golf. Surviving are: her husband, Edward Scott, whom she married Dec. 18, 1999; her parents, William and Dorothy Bush, Greenville; and two brothers, William L. Bush, Carlisle, Pa.; and Gerald W. Bush, Dunkirk, Md. BUSH-SCOTT Richard E. Penman Richard E. Penman, 3370 N. Hermitage Road, South Pymatuning Township, died at 12:31 p.m. Friday (3-23-01) in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 67. Obituary information was incomplete.
PENMAN Margery Fox McCarthy California woman had sister living in Sharon GREEBRAE, Calif. -- Margery Fox McCarthy died Tuesday (3-20-01) in Marin General Hospital, Greenbrae. She was 87. She was the beloved wife of James R. McCarthy, Sausalito, Calif.; beloved mother of Michele Ealish Matrisian, Seattle; Kevin James McCarthy, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and Kian Redmond McCarthy, Mill Valley, Calif.; mother-in-law of Richard Matrisian and Shari McCarthy; loving grandmother of Linsey Matrisian, Maris McCarthy and Lorna McCarthy; and beloved sister of Patricia Fox, Sharon. Mrs. McCarthy was a member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus (1948-1955) and the Sausalito Woman's Club (1969-1979).
McCARTHY William L. Hedrick Sharon Steel retiree was 50-year Mason Funeral will be Sunday for William L. Hedrick, 175 Mitchell Road, Shenango Township, who passed away at 10:45 p.m. Thursday (3-22-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 81. Mr. Hedrick was born May 10, 1919, in Sharon to Lewis and Madaline Shaffer Hedrick. He retired in 1977 as the roll shop superintendent at Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant, where he worked for 37. Previously, he worked two years in the restaurant of Sharon Steel. A member of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, Mr. Hedrick was a member of its Methodist Men's Group. He was a 50-year member of and held many chairs in Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 250, Sharon. Mr. Hedrick was also a member and past monarch of El Bika Grotto and a member of United Commercial Travelers 589. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and golf. Surviving are: his wife of 58 years, the former Lucile Fuller, whom he married Feb. 10, 1943; a daughter, Linda Niles, Las Vegas; a son, Dr. Earl R. Hedrick and his wife, Suzan, Chatham, Va.; a sister, Virginia McCartney, Largo, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Christine Hedrick, Mark Hedrick and Sean Niles. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Hedrick, and four brothers, Earl, Stanley, Raymond and Wayne Hedrick. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, 16146 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
HEDRICK Naomi Jean Rudesill Grottoette was life member of St. Paul's Church of Christ Funeral will be Monday for Naomi Jean Rudesill, 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, formerly of 136 S. Oakdale Ave., Hermitage. She died at 1:30 a.m. Friday (3-23-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 86. Mrs. Rudesill was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Sharpsville to George and Charlotte Doerr Scott. She was a 1932 graduate of Sharpsville High School. A lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hermitage, Mrs. Rudesill had previously been a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon. She was a member of the El Bika Grottoettes, Sharon. Her husband, Edward J. "Ted" Rudesill, whom she married May 25, 1935, died Nov. 29, 1995. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Kathleen A.) Jaco, Morgantown, W.Va.; Mrs. Francis (Janet L.) Moro, Hummelstown, Pa.; and Mrs. David (Sylvia L.) Addicott, Brookfield; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard S. Rudesill; a sister, Freda Waid; a brother, Walter Scott; and a grandchild, Glenn David Addicott.
