GROVE CITY

Interim pastor starts at Tower

EDITOR’S NOTE: This story is being reprinted after having been published a week early last Saturday. The first sermon and the reception for Rev. McCreight will be tomorrow.

The Rev. Dr. Robert G. McCreight began duties this week as full-time interim pastor and head of staff at Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St.

He had been serving since 1998 in the same capacity at West Middlesex Presbyterian Church.

Rev. McCreight’s term of service, expected to last 18 to 24 months, will allow the Grove City church time to seek a new pastor.

The Rev. Clark Olson-Sawyer, who served the congregation for more than 12 years as pastor, accepted a call in January to Hill Presbyterian Church, Butler.

Rev. McCreight will be assisted by the Rev. Jean Gomola, associate pastor.

Before going to West Middlesex, Rev. Dr. McCreight completed interim pastorates in Bay City and Marshall, both Mich.

Prior to his interim ministries, he served Presbyterian churches in Toledo, Ohio; Belleville, Mich.; and Tequesta, Fla.

He graduated from Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio; Princeton (N.J.) Theological Seminary; and the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, Detroit.

Rev. McCreight will preach for the first time at the 10:55 a.m. service Sunday in Tower Presbyterian.

A reception for Rev. McCreight and his wife, Marianne, will follow in the church’s Williamson Hall.

The McCreights have two married daughters living in Charleston, S.C.; and Dayton, Ohio.
