SHARON

Mich. man charged with sex assault

Police arrested and charged a Michigan man with sexually assaulting a Sharon woman.

Henry Lee Jones, 33, of Benton Harbor, was arrested at 9:18 a.m. Friday at the Sharon police station on a warrant charging him with burglary, aggravated assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and criminal conspiracy, police said.

Jones is the second man police said was involved with the July 12 assault of a woman in her home in the 800 block of Spearman Avenue. Jones and Randy J. Norris, 19, formerly of Sharon, entered the woman’s home while she was sleeping, choked her until she was unconscious and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police had to extradite Jones from Michigan where he was jailed on other charges.

Norris pleaded guilty Sept. 29 to charges stemming from the assault and was sentenced to 2 to 20 years in a state penitentiary.

Jones was arraigned before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, and was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $500,000 bond.
