SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP

Man dies after ‘cycle smashes into SUV

A Springfield Township man died as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle-sport utility vehicle crash Saturday, police said.

James M. Williams, 48, of 407 Old Ash Road, was pronounced dead at 5:48 a.m. Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. He died of "extensive blunt force trauma," said a spokesman from the Allegheny County Coroner’s Office.

Williams crashed his motorcycle into the left side of an SUV driven by Michael R. Skibinski, 28, of 311 Stewart Ave., Grove City, at 1:40 a.m. on Old Ash Road near state Route 208, police said.

The crash occurred as both the SUV and the motorcycle were traveling north on Old Ash Road, police said. Williams was passing several vehicles when Skibinski made a left-hand turn into a driveway. William’s motorcycle hit Skibinski’s SUV, police said.
