HERMITAGE

Watercolors of city landmarks available

The Hermitage Historical Society is offering limited edition prints of paintings by local artist Edward Grober.

Grober has painted snapshot images of Mount Hickory Farm, Buhl Farm Casino and Stewart House, a 134-year-old building at 5465 E. State St. that is home to the society.

Grober, an 81-year-old Hermitage resident who considers himself a "semi-retired artist and designer," said paintings of other historical city landmarks are in the works.

Grober studied at Cooper Union Art School in New York and earned a fine arts degree from Carnegie Tech -- today Carnegie Mellon University -- in Pittsburgh. Grober said he was a college classmate of Andy Warhol at Carnegie Tech.

It took about a day to complete each of the watercolor paintings, which were then copied. Prints are on display at numerous locations in Hermitage, including the Shenango Valley Mall and Stigliano's BookSource.

Buyers can choose from 12-inch-by-16-inch and 16-inch-by-20-inch prints. Oak and cherry frames also are available. The proceeds benefit the historical society.
