Local chorale rounding up new members
Shenango Valley Chorale will hold interviews for new members Sept. 9 at the forum of Pennsylvania State University -- Shenango Campus, Sharon.
The chorale, entering its 30th season, is looking for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Director Edgar S. Groves will interview candidates starting at 2 p.m. Call (724) 983-1298 to reserve a time.
No preparation is necessary for auditions.
Rehearsals begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 10 in the forum, with fall and Christmas season rehearsals set for 8 to 10 p.m. Mondays.
The 2001-02 season will include:
Handel's "Messiah" Nov. 18 at First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.
Christmas concerts in Sharon, New Wilmington and another site in December.
Appearing with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra for Beethoven's ninth symphony in February.
Spring concerts in May.
The chorale was formed in 1972 by William M. Blough, who was choral director of Sharon High School.
Groves, former choral director at Hickory High School, has been director and conductor since 1995.
Cynthia Brea Ward accompanies the group.
