Police ID man found shot to death

By Tom Fontaine
Herald Staff Writer

Southwest Mercer County Regional Police identified the man who was shot to death late Wednesday in Farrell as Rasceo Riley, a Jamaican-born man who moved to the city several months ago from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Police said Riley had recently turned 30 and was also known as "Angel." He did not have a job, police said.

Riley had been living at 218 Fruit Ave., police said.

Police were called shortly before midnight Wednesday and found Riley in a pool of blood on the sidewalk in front of the home.

Police said they have not been able to track down any witnesses to the shooting. Several neighbors said they heard at least three gunshots.

Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle III has ruled the death a homicide. He could not determine if Riley had turned away from a shooter or had been shot from behind.
