SHARON

College Club fall luncheon set Oct. 13

College Club of Sharon has set its annual fall luncheon for noon Oct. 13 in Sharon Country Club.

Guest performer will be Tanya Griffith, an actress, researcher and writer who portrays great women in history. Throughout her career, Ms. Griffith has developed more than 125 characters that she has researched by visiting museums, interviewing descendants and taking pilgrimages to gravesites and hometowns of her subjects.

At the luncheon, Ms. Griffith will portray the opera star and beauty, Maria Callas, who battled with her mother, with weight issues, self-confidence and the need to be loved. Throughout her lifetime, Ms. Callas exhibited great contrasts in her emotions and was involved in a public love affair with one of the richest men in the world, Aristotle Onassis. Ms. Griffith will bring the beauty, drama, intrigue and personal victory over hardships to life in her portrayal of Ms. Callas.

Providing luncheon music will be Trillium, a trio featuring Jeffrey Johns, who has performed with accomplished musicians including The Lettermen and Benny Goodman and has served for 25 years with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, for which he is a former concertmaster. Also featured in the trio are Rebecca Johns, current principal flutist with Mercer County Historical Society Chamber Players and member of Greenville Symphony, and Paula Kubic, organist/choir director since 1978 of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon. Ms. Kubic also performs at Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, and with other musicians including the Chamber Players and Greenville and Youngstown symphonies.

Dorothy Bieber and Carole Dunkerly are in charge of hospitality.
