Teen slices fingertip in class
A 15-year-old Brookfield High School student nearly amputated the tip of the middle finger on his right hand during a woodworking class at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Fire Chief Keith Barrett said.
The accident occurred when wood the student was cutting with a table saw slipped, according to a report of the mishap.
The top of the boy's middle finger was almost amputated below the nail, left hanging by some skin, Barrett said.
The student was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.
Authorities did not release the boy's name.
