A malfunction in the backup generator at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System caused about 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel to spill down the hillside near the Oakland Avenue Viaduct, Sharon police said.
At 9:47 p.m. Wednesday someone at Sharon Elks Lodge 103 on Connelly Boulevard called Mercer County 911 about a suspicious odor, according to a news released from the hospital. City firefighters and police found diesel fuel coming from a storm sewer at the top of the hill on property at the rear of the hospital, the release said.
