Today's obituaries Raymond Phillip Faber Business owner coached, officiated youth sports, golfed Raymond Phillip Faber, 56 Baker Ave., Hermitage, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (11-7-01) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a brief illness. He was 60. Mr. Faber was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Sharon, a son of Joseph and Katherine Sansone Faber. Mr. Faber was a 1959 alumnus of Sharpsville High School. For 25 years, he worked in real estate and he was owner and operator of Faber Real Estate in Sharon. He was also employed by Watson's Inc. as a bus driver, driving for Farrell Area School District. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon. Mr. Faber had coached several teams in both the Hermitage Little League and Senior Division. A referee for the PIAA, Mr. Faber umpired high school baseball and also officiated volleyball. At one time, he announced local high school football games for WPIC-AM 790. An avid golfer, he belonged to the Elks Golf League at Veterans of Foreign Wars Golf Course and was instrumental in running the Bob Faber Memorial Golf Scramble. Mr. Faber had a good sense of humor and enjoyed writing jokes for the "Ray of Sunshine" section in the news publication, "The Way It Was." He enjoyed professional sports and was a devoted Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. An outdoorsman, Mr. Faber enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Faber is survived by his wife, the former Carol Gilliland, whom he married Aug. 1, 1964. He also leaves: a daughter, Mrs. Mark S. (Jill L.) Munnell, New Castle; two sons, Brian R. and his wife Sharronda L. Faber, Sharon; and Evan M. Faber, Hermitage; three brothers, Richard Faber, Horton, Mich.; Phillip Faber, Clark; and Thomas Faber, Sharon; one sister, Kathleen Josephine Faber, Sharon; and five grandchildren, Jessica Fernandez, Lauren Munnell, Mark Munnell Jr. and Joseph and Kristen Faber. Mr. Faber was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Faber.
FABER Charles Robert McFarland Retired Penney's manager lived in Fla., Lake Latonka A funeral service will be held Friday for Charles Robert McFarland, Marco Island, Fla., and Lake Latonka. He died at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 75. Mr. McFarland was born May 5, 1926, in Springfield Township to Floyd C. and Marie G. Stone McFarland. He held management positions with J.C. Penney Co. for more than 31 years. In 1985, Mr. McFarland retired to Marco Island and opened a men's clothing store and has since remained active with the store. He was of the Protestant faith. A Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary organization, Mr. McFarland held other memberships in various orders of Free and Accepted Masons in Florida. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Immokalee Friendship House in Florida. As a veteran of World War II, Mr. McFarland served with the First Marine Division in the Pacific theater. Surviving are: his wife, the former Adele Carey, whom he married Jan. 19, 1952, at the residence; a daughter, Shelley Marie McFarland, Marco Island; three sons, Robert Douglas McFarland, Marco Island; and Richard C. and David J. McFarland, both Boston; two sisters, Mrs. Gale (Barbara S.) McFadden; and Mrs. Donald (Faith) Shaw, both Grove City; five brothers, Floyd C. McFarland Jr. and Ronald L. McFarland, both Grove City; Richard L. and Raymond E. McFarland, both Houston; and David M. McFarland, San Antonio; and two grandchildren, Alexander Charles McFarland and Ariana Grace McFarland, both Boston. Mr. McFarland was preceded in death by his parents.
