SHARPSVILLE

Cop hurt, couple charged after confrontation, police say

A Sharpsville patrolman was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System and a couple was charged after a confrontation Thursday on West Ridge Avenue, police said.

Robert Turosik, 40, of 204 W. Ridge Ave., was charged with aggravated assault of a policeman, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at his home, police said.

His wife, Julia Turosik, age unavailable, was charged with hindering apprehension, obstructing administration of law and endangering the welfare of children, police said.

At 8:45 p.m., Turosik called 911 and requested a policeman come to his home concerning an illegally parked vehicle across the street. When patrolman Keith Falasco arrived, Turosik became belligerent and ordered Falasco from his property, but blocked the exit so he couldn't leave the porch, police said.

After Falasco told Turosik he was under arrest, Turosik punched Falasco in the left temple, police said. Turosik then locked himself in the house and left through a back window, police said.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Turosik refused to assist police by not answering the door and failing to notify police her husband escaped through the window, police said. She was also asked to take their children out of the room during the confrontation and refused, police said.

Falasco was treated for a head injury and given a tetanus shot, police said.

The Turosiks were arraigned Friday before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, and released on bond, police said.
