A Brookfield man who allegedly used a spray bottle to spray semen on women shoppers in and near the Eastwood Mall, is banned for life from the mall and surrounding Cafaro Company-owned properties, according to mall general manager Kenneth J. Kollar.
Robert L. Gibson, III, 38, of 467 S. Albright McKay Road, was arraigned on a criminal mischief charge filed by Howland police Monday in Warren Municipal Court. A pretrial hearing was set for Jan. 22. The court barred Gibson from Niles' Super KMart, where one instance of spraying allegedly occurred, for the duration of the case.
But according to Kollar, Gibson will be sent a certified letter this week banning him from the Eastwood Mall and surrounding stores "forever." The ban extends to all Cafaro properties around the mall.
"It's definitely part of our security plan. Niles police will help us enforce this," Kollar said.
"Because we're privately-owned property, we have the right to ban people from the property," he said, adding that it was another way of protecting the shoppers.
Gibson was charged with seven counts of criminal mischief and one count of aggravated trespassing by Niles police last week and has a pretrial set for Feb. 6 in Niles Municipal Court.
Howland Police Chief Steve Lamantia said they are looking into two other related incidents at this time.
